I realize there are many who find it difficult to believe that past lives exist. Despite several real life cases having been documented, we still look for proof. In my experience as a healer, I have found two opposite sets of clients visiting my centre. The first kind is very curious and wants to experience a past life, irrespective of whether there is an issue. There seems to be a kind of romanticism and excitement attached to these seekers. The second kind is fearful at the thought of Past Life Regression as therapy to solve an issue, because they are scared of the unknown - bound by religious beliefs or living with myths and mindsets. Of course, there is a third type of client who is willing to accept any technique, provided the issue is resolved. The open mindedness of this third type of client has often resulted in very successful sessions.
Experience is the prerequisite and starting point of the establishment of any kind of belief system or faith. Let me explain. Many of us get stuck in a quagmire of repetitive patterns that are limiting, constrictive, and hamper movement and growth. Some of us are not even aware that this is happening to us. All we feel is frequent bouts of restlessness, claustrophobia, listlessness, anger, frustration, sadness, depression, anxiety and lack of joy. At this juncture, we have not yet learnt to work from the space of our higher selves.
These repetitive patterns are “karmic” (a result of our direct / indirect actions) and exist for as long as it takes us to learn the lessons we are meant to learn from their recurrence. As an offshoot of such actions, we create our own issues. In other words, we make choices that create and recreate our reality and therefore, destiny. It is clear that we are responsible not only for creating our reality but also changing it at any time. The phrase “passing the buck” is therefore, negatively proportionate to the positive phrase “taking charge of your life”. The latter comes highly recommended along with a sizeable dose of awareness.
Wherever there is an emotional / mental charge attached to events and / or people, there is a potential issue. I would rather not use the word “problem”, for it has a purely negative connotation. Can you imagine how heavy is the burden of so many unresolved “karmic” issues we carry, from so many lives?
Just as a journey back to our younger days can help us understand and resolve many issues we face as adults which have their roots in our early years, so also, visiting one or more past lives can expand our understanding and our consciousness manifold. There is nothing as liberating and therapeutic as a resolution of the past.
Such liberation can happen with the actual experience of our past lives and life between lives leading to an understanding of our current lifetime, of the people we have around us and why things happen to us the way they do. They reveal facets of ourselves to us.
I experienced this amazing truth during a PLR session with a client. He saw himself in Japan as a twenty five year old rice farmer, in a cottage with his sister and his brother- in- law who was the chieftain of their tribe. He never married and lived his life as a writer, tutor and monk in a monastery until the end of his days. He narrated further that after he was cremated by four students, he was drawn upwards into a white tunnel and moved in space with speed. There were warm, white lights around him. He felt he was hurtling through space until; finally he was a ball falling into an ocean. It took me a few seconds to realize, confirmed by him, that the ocean was a womb and that he had been born again. Before the session ended, he saw himself as a little boy in his parents’ home in Mumbai. In that instant, both he and I had expanded our vision of him when we realized that he is the only one in his family, in this lifetime, who is a voracious reader of Japanese books, sees every Japanese film… And there is more! The one sport he is obsessed with is Samurai sword fighting! As in his past life, he is calm, gentle, knowledgeable and very well liked. Does this description remind you of someone? A monk, maybe? Evidently, his personality has followed him in this life, and today, he has a much deeper understanding of who he is.
If the uniqueness of each human being based on the journey of that soul were to be accepted and understood by one and all, perceptions would change drastically and even family constellations would be a haven, instead of being a source of strife and tension.
Have we ever looked at ourselves as eternal beings who are on this physical plane to live out our soul purpose, that we are a sum total of all our past lives and all the karmic content in each of these? What we do can be done, undone or redone only by us; aided sometimes, when required, by a competent therapist and healer. However, the responsibility of a holistic and happy existence lies totally on each of us and on the choices that we make.
Many advocate fear of punishment as an effective way to ensure good / salutary action. Actually, we are here to learn the lessons we were meant to learn, but did not learn due either to a lack of awareness, ignorance or distractions on the physical plane. The energy that works in aiding our learning is not fear but love. With the removal of each knot within us as we understand and heal events, people and ourselves, either from our past lives or this life, we also nullify the “karmas” that bind us. As the blockages in the free flow of energy are removed, the transformation that occurs is miraculous.
This will definitely happen if we can change our thinking and behavioral patterns to rise above our conditioning, rigidities and our myopia, and attach ourselves to our higher consciousness to incorporate the laws of the spiritual world in our daily lives. We can secure our future this way by rendering it simple, beautiful and joyous. There is no better aphrodisiac than inner joy and each one of us deserves nothing less. There is no better technique than PLR to answer the questions we ask ourselves again and again about ourselves, our relationship with others and with this world. To emerge from the darkness of past lives into the light of knowledge is the ultimate freedom and grace of God.
…and so, the Lord said, “let there be light !”…and there was light !
